Good morning and welcome to Our Liverpool.
It was a funny old weekend and Friday night's events in Kirkby certainly left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want to dwell on the matter, so I've tried with this morning's instalment of Our Liverpool to focus a bit more on some of the good news our team works on day in day out. After all, your stories are at the heart of what we do.
Putting positivity in the spotlight
After a strange and devastating weekend marred by Friday's incident in Kirkby and the murder of Brianna Ghey, our audience team have attempted to bring some good news to the fore with a Twitter mega-thread of all the positive pieces our team have covered in recent days and weeks. It's something we love doing - getting to the heart of our communities and telling people's stories.
Highlights for me is this focus piece on Moss Lane by Ellen Kirwin and Olivia Williams' look at the corner shop with surprising links to the Titanic.
'We're flinging our doors open for Eurovision'
Every Sunday, I write a feature called Where I Live. People from across Merseyside give us a 'through the keyhole' look into their homes and how they've put their stamp on it. This week's is up there with one of my favourites. Sally and Joshua's Wavertree house is quirky, eclectic and steeped in history they're keen to preserve. It will also be available on Airbnb as tourists flock to Merseyside this summer. Read the full piece here.
If you'd like to feature in Where I Live, email me at storm.newton@reachplc.com.
Celeb spotting
Liverpool has a Hollywood visitor this week - none other than Will Ferrell. The Anchorman star dined at Mamasan in Liverpool ONE on Saturday (February 11) and was at the Hope Street Hotel's 1931 Restaurant on Sunday.
