I guess you could call it one of the perks of the jobs, depending on how you look at it, but often journalists are ready to put themselves right in the middle of the story.
At the ECHO we cover a huge range of stories and no two days look the same. Our reporters cover crime, court and council but also they try a wide range of things to help inform our readers. And that is a great privilege.
This weekend was no expectation for the ECHO, and as part of the mix of stories on our website over Saturday and Sunday, where a number of first person accounts that our readers enjoyed. So today, I wanted to focus on them as they are often a lot of fun to write and read and often celebrate local businesses and the local area.

Days out with a £2 bus ticket
Our new Curiously team have been looking at stories that matter to our younger readers and as part of their content, Jamie Greer ventured out to South Liverpool, "pinching himself" that his bus ticket was just £2. With only a budget of £20, you can find out what Jamie got up to here.

Reviewing a restaurant can really help people decide if it feels like the place for them and this weekend our What's On team dined at Hawksmoor and the same steak place Coleen Rooney is known to enjoy.
The only Waitrose in Merseyside
Yes, that's right, I have never been to a Waitrose, so I visited the only one in Merseyside which is in Formby. I browsed the aisles of caviar, oysters and veal and you can find out what £11.60 got me here.
And finally... single's night
Our trends reporter Gemma Jones bravely wrote about her trip to a single's night in the city centre and it was a genuine, relatable and funny story about how she left with a few new phone numbers. You can read all about the ups and downs of her evening here.
