Our Liverpool: Dad's inspiring motto as he's diagnosed with Parkinson's

Hello and welcome to Our Liverpool.

A dad-of-two thought he was just clumsy before he was given a "brutal" diagnosis. Rob Stubbs, 62, was told he had Parkinson's disease after his friend noticed he wasn't picking up his leg properly during a walk.

Yet, despite the condition being uncurable and getting worse, Rob, from Wirral, said he is determined to stay positive with his motto being "‘it is what it is, get on with it." Speaking to reporter Charlotte Hadfield, he said: "You can roll over or you can grasp it and go full throttle and that’s what I try to do."

The dad of a "miracle" baby who died just weeks after being born said his twin baby brother "knows there's a piece of him missing." Parents Stephanie and Peter spent weeks in hospital after giving birth to Theo and Leo Mathieson, born nine week premature.

Soon the pair were being told Leo had a rare heart condition and the baby would soon undergo successful open heart surgery. Yet despite the success, he was back in hospital within 24 hours of being sent home.

Asylum seeker boat plan for Mersey condemned as 'inhumane'

MPs have vowed to fight plans to house as many as 1,800 asylum seekers on a vessel moored off Wirral. The government is considering housing the almost-2,000 asylum seekers at the Wirral Waters development as part of plans which would leave them "stranded on what amounts to a prison ship" according to the peninsula's MPs.
