Next week merchant and naval ships will sail into Liverpool for three days of commemorations and celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic. Next Friday, the vessels, led by Royal Navy destroyer HMS Defender, will raise the curtain on a weekend of events to mark the longest naval battle in history.
A private service of commemoration at St Nick's Church on the waterfront will kick start the events, and will be followed by the unveiling of a new memorial in the church grounds. You can find all of the information you need to know ahead of the celebrations here.

Mum fighting for life in Turkey after collapsing in airport
A mum who thought she had heatstroke is now fighting for her life in Turkey. Melissa Kinsella, known as Missy by loved ones, was on holiday with her partner, his family and their three children when she collapsed suddenly at the airport, having suffered a seizure that caused her heart to stop.
A friend of Melissa told the ECHO "doctors don't know what caused it, but she has swelling on the brain and swelling on her heart."
Woman sexually assaulted in Revolver bar as police release picture of man
Merseyside Police have opened an investigation after a woman was sexually assaulted at a bar in Liverpool city centre. The woman was at Revolver bar on Temple Court at around 8.30pm on a Saturday when she was inappropriately touched by a man.
She immediately alerted staff at the bar, and the man ran off towards Victoria Street and North John Street. Police have now issued CCTV images of a man they believe could help in their investigation.
Man caught minding sub-machine gun breaks neck in cell
A man who was caught minding a Skorpion sub-machine gun and over 140 rounds of ammunition has been jailed after officers discovered the lethal weapon in the airing cupboard of his home. Officers also found a live hand-grenade in the home of Paul Cox, who broke his neck and wrist after falling from an upper bunk while on remand in custody.
