Sy on the fight's key moment
“That was exactly the plan. That’s exactly what had to be done. I told myself I’m going to suffocate him, I’m going to stick him. It’s something that I know how to do. We all have strengths and weaknesses. That’s what I know how to do best. So I said to myself I’m going to stick to it until the end. I knew that at some point, it was going to happen because I felt that his energy gauge was starting to go down. I’m here to make the decision. As soon as he gives me the opportunity, I’ll end the fight.”
Sy on his delayed UFC debut
“We all have a destiny. I got injured (in 2023), so it wasn’t the right time. The right time for me to start at the UFC was today. It happened the way it was supposed to. I’m very happy to have started again. I think I left a good message. I didn’t show all my strengths today. I showed what I can do best. That’s it.”
Sy on what he wants next
“I could (not) care less, really. I’m ready for anything. I got hurt 10 months ago. I couldn’t start. So now just pick me anybody – just anybody – and I will fight him gladly and win.”
