Tilda Swinton has been spotted in the public queue for the Queen’s lying in state.
The We Need To Talk About Kevin actress is just one of many famous faces who has been spotted joining the queue, including David Beckham and Susanna Reid. It comes after Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield sparked backlash online after photos emerged of the two skipping the public queue.
The line to visit the Queen’s coffin at Westminster Hall continues to stretch for miles with members of the public queuing for hours to pay their respects to the late monarch. In the early hours of Saturday morning, footage from the BBC’s livestream circulated on social media of the 61-year-old dressed in black at the Parliamentary hall.
Fans reacted with delight to seeing Swinton in the queue. “Respect to the wonderful Tilda Swinton for queuing,” one person tweeted. “So much mad respect for these celebrities refusing to take advantage of status in their effort to pay their respects to their Queen,” added another.
A third wrote: "Despite the fact that she is a goddess and comes from a Scottish aristocratic family, #TildaSwinton queued! #RespectTheQueue #QueenElizabeth " Another penned: "Tilda Swinton queued today, with the general public. Proper respect. So many that were interviewed on TV about how long they queued and when asked how long will you stay in line every answer was "as long as it takes!""
The Scottish actress was a friend and classmate of Princess Diana as they both attended West Heath Girls’ School in Kent. Swinton’s father was Sir John Swinton, the Laird of Kimmerghame House and former major-general in the British Army.
This comes after Swinton was seen at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote The Eternal Daughter, a mystery drama movie in which she stars alongside Joseph Mydell, Carly-Sophia Davies, and Alfie Sankey-Green.
The Queen's funeral will take place on Monday 19 September.
