Oscar Mercado was fooled so bad by a pitch that he fell down mid-check swing

I would say this is a little bit embarrassing for the St. Louis Cardinals’ Oscar Mercado, but to be fair: It’s spring training still, and the pitch the New York Mets’ Tylor Megill threw on Sunday was awesome.

Megill threw a fastball high and tight on Mercado, who tried an inside-out kind of swing on it. But then he appeared to try to stop the swing AND maybe get out of the way of the baseball that was pretty near him, and then he collapsed.

A rough one to say the least, and some good jokes were made out of it on Twitter:

Oof. Better luck next time.
