Orlando city officials are taking proactive measures to prepare for the anticipated landfall of Hurricane Milton later this week. City Engineer Lucy Phillip announced in a news conference that efforts are underway to lower lake levels and clear debris in the area to mitigate potential storm impacts.

Mayor Buddy Dyer emphasized the importance of preparedness, stating that all non-essential city offices, including city hall, will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Residents are urged to secure yard debris such as branches and leaves, keeping them away from curbs, storm drains, and roadways to prevent potential hazards during the storm.

Trash services and recycling will continue as scheduled on Monday and Tuesday but will be suspended starting Wednesday at noon to ensure the safety of workers and residents. The city is working diligently to ensure the community is ready for the impending weather event.
