Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has taken proactive measures by declaring a state of emergency in anticipation of Hurricane Milton's impending landfall this week. The announcement was made during a news conference where the mayor emphasized the importance of preparedness and safety for residents.

As part of the emergency response plan, the city's Emergency Operations Center will be elevated to a Level 2 Activation on Tuesday, October 8, at 10 a.m. This will be further escalated to a Level 1 Full Activation on Wednesday, October 9, at 12 p.m. These measures are aimed at ensuring that the city is fully equipped to handle any potential impacts of the hurricane.

In addition to the operational changes, the city is also providing assistance to residents by offering sandbags at Camping World Stadium. Each household can receive up to 10 sandbags to help protect their properties from potential flooding and storm damage. This initiative is part of the city's efforts to support the community in preparing for the storm.
