About 20.8 million older adults and people with disabilities in Original Medicare are set to receive a one-time $90 payment toward their Part B premiums, with most direct deposits expected on or around Oct. 8. The payment, announced by President Donald Trump on Oct. 2, comes from a never-before-used federal account called the Medicare Improvement Fund.
Millions of Medicare enrollees will not get anything, however. According to a CMS frequently asked questions page on the rebate published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Oct. 3, people enrolled in Medicare Advantage are not eligible. Neither are people whose premiums are paid with help from Medicaid or people who pay higher, income-based Part B premiums.
