Its not a trip to the seaside without some fish and chips, but what if we told you Leeds is home to a chippy named among the top five best in the UK.
Original Fisheries, located in Bramley has been ranked fourth best chippy in the UK, according to a recent study by Parkdean Resorts, who compiled a list of the best fish and chips with one Leeds. It also has 97 per cent excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.
The fish and chip shop in Bramley is a small, traditional, family-run fish and chip shop that keeps the age-old technique of cooking their produce in beef dripping. The shop has been serving people for 101 years and has not intention of disappearing anytime soon.

But of course with the bold claim of being among the top five in the UK I just had to try it out.
When we got to Original Fisheries we were impressed with its authentic aesthetic, I think the words "it looks like a proper chippy crossed our mouths - its nice to see a takeaway stick to what they know these days as many chippies can be seen to serve pizzas and kebabs too.
We'd pre-ordered the food which was ready perfectly on time for when we arrived and served to us by lovely and friendly staff. The food came to a total of £24.10 including some cans of pop which we thought was pretty good value for money, considering how much some fish and chip shops charge on the coast.
By the the time we got the food home it was still piping hot and the smell of it bad us all the more excited to eat it - although some of the batter did stick to the paper when unwrapping.
The food itself tasted great, the fish wasn't overly oily, the chips were cooked in authentic beef dripping - the best kind if you ask me - and of course fish and chips aren't complete without curry sauce which also tasted great. The only criticism would be that there could have been more scraps on, but that's my own personal taste - and I probably should have asked for more when collecting them.
Portion sizes were huge too, we only ordered a medium and even still couldn't finish all the chips off - as much as we wanted to.
No wonder Original Fisheries has been dubbed among the top five in the UK, cancelling out some of the chippies I've visited on the Yorkshire Coast I would definitely go as far to as as its probably the best I've had, especially in West Yorkshire - really loved how authentic they were and the fact the chip shop itself was traditional made it all the more better.
Another reviewer, Joe Hanchard, said: "It was really good value for money, chips were different but refreshing and the fish was good it wasn't over oily.
"Plus I liked the fact that the chippy was just a chippy, it didn't try to be a fancy gastro pub like all these places try to do - it was a chippy, salt of the earth, bread and butter. Good stuff."
Overall I would definitely recommend Original Fisheries to anyone in the Leeds area - I would go as far to say as its one of the best chippies I've tasted in West Yorkshire so far.
We will definitely be ordering from here again, it gives some of those famous seaside chippies a run for their money in my eyes.
