Original American Idol judge sparks health concerns amid return to show

Randy Jackson

Randy Jackson returned to American Idol as a guest mentor for season 24 semi-finalists, appearing alongside Paula Abdul.
Fans expressed concern over Jackson's "frail" appearance and noted he remained seated throughout the episode.
Jackson was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2002 and underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003, leading to over 100 pounds of weight loss.
He previously had spinal surgery for a back injury in 2019 and has since focused on maintaining his health through diet and fitness.
Jackson's representatives did not respond to requests for an update on his current health status.
