Europe is home to a vast selection of small-displacement motorcycles and scooters that are designed specifically for the urban setting. Countries like Italy and France have scooters ingrained into their day to day mobility, and you’ll find no shortage of models to choose from. One of the newest models to hit the French market is the Orcal Vorei 125, a compact commuter with an impressive array of amenities. Let’s take a closer look.
The Orcal brand is headquartered in France, and is owned by French moto importer and seller DIP. The company is responsible for distributing other brands such as Keeway and SWM, so it knows a thing or two about selling two-wheelers. As for the origin of Orcal’s motorcycles, it should come as no surprise that its models are imported from China, which would explain the brand’s affordable pricing. Orcal was previously known for selling small-displacement retro-style roadsters, but has now expanded into the scooter segment with the Vorei 125.
The Vorei 125 is a stark departure from Orcal’s lineup not only because it’s a scooter, but also because it does away with retro styling in favor of a more modern, sporty design. It’s powered by a 124cc single-cylinder engine with an output of 15 horsepower – the very limit when it comes to A1-approved two-wheelers in Europe. It does this with the help of an electronic fuel injection system from Bosch. Like most scooters of this caliber, the Vorei 125 sends power to the rear wheel via a CVT.
In terms of urban mobility, the Orcal Vorei 125 impresses with its large nine-liter fuel tank. Mated to its fuel-sipping engine, the scooter promises an impressive 380 kilometers (237 miles) of range in between fill-ups. On top of that, the scooter is loaded with practical technology such as voluminous under-seat storage, keyless ignition, full-LED lighting, and a five-inch digital display. Additionally, there’s a USB port and a 12-volt charging socket for charging multiple devices on the go. For easy maintenance, the scooter gets both a side stand and a center stand.
The Orcal Vorei 125 is underpinned by standard telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers and rolls on 14-inch wheels front and rear. It comes to a stop with front and rear disc brakes equipped with dual-channel ABS from Bosch. It’ll be offered in blue and black colorways, and is set to hit the market in November, 2023. The price? An attractive 3,290 euros (about $3,500), complete with a two-year warranty.
