Opposition's unnecessary row over new Parliament building, say constitutional experts

NEW DELHI: At a time when the political parties have got divided into two groups over the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28, constitutional experts feel the opposition leaders are not justified in their protest as there are no rules governing the matter.

As many as 20 political parties have decided to boycott the function over PM Modi inaugurating the building. While 19 parties, including the main opposition Congress, have demanded that the new Parliament building should be inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu, Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has wants Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla to do the honours.
