At a few minutes past noon local time, the opposition caravan departed from the campaign headquarters of María Corina Machado, situated in the eastern part of Caracas, en route to Las Mercedes in the southeast of the Venezuelan capital.
The opposition leader, who has not made a public appearance since Tuesday, may potentially join the caravan at a later time.
On Thursday, Machado penned a column in a publication where she disclosed that she was currently under protection.
Both the Chavistas and the opposition factions are anticipated to hold protests this coming Saturday. This is amidst escalating tensions triggered by the contentious results declared by the National Electoral Council, which declared Maduro as the victor. Additionally, the electoral body's unprecedented delay in releasing the results by polling station and voting table on its website has further fueled the unrest.
