In the same week that Twitter revealed a new limit on the number of tweets users can read, Meta has announced it’s launching a new platform, to rival the internet’s ‘global town square’.
Mark Zuckerberg’s latest project is called Threads, and will become part of Instagram.
Screenshots of the app at least look strikingly similar to Twitter, with logos similar to those you already find on Instagram.
Users will log in to the platform using their Insta credentials, and Threads promises to be a place “where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow”.
Ahead of the launch on Thursday 6th July, Jon Weeks spoke to Social Media Consultant Matt Navarra who discusses Meta’s fresh attempt to challenge Twitter, why the social media giant is doing it, and whether it will work.
