Friends of the House of Commons Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, are putting it about that there’s a diabolical plot by “woke” Labour MPs to replace him. This follows a series of hideously embarrassing revelations by the Mail about his jet-setting abroad at taxpayers’ expense.
He has spent £250,000 on 19 foreign jaunts since October 2022, including the Cayman Islands, Italy, Los Angeles and Gibraltar – four trips there cost the taxpayer £16,000 (he is, coincidentally, head of its university).
