For the few days following the release of Adolescence on Netflix, the discourse was exactly as it should have been. Focused on the show, mournful, considered, kind. The bombshell Netflix series, written by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, took aim at the insidious nature of violence against women and how it can take root in even the youngest of men.
Adolescence laid blame at the doors of everyone: men, yes, but also young men’s families, school bullies, social media and manosphere influencers like Andrew Tate. It made a lot of people feel very bad about a lot of things.
