Operator issues warning over video showing man riding Nottingham e-scooter on top of chair

Operators have released a statement after a user was seen riding an e-scooter in an unconventional way in Beeston. It comes after a viral Tik Tok video which shows a man riding the e-scooter on top of a chair, which is placed on a wooden pallet.

The clip has gained 83,400 likes and more than a thousand replies since it was uploaded on Tuesday (August 30). The video was uploaded with the caption "A normal day in Notts #nottingham #beeston."

Other social media users were quick to comment, with one person saying: "This place never fails to amaze me." Another added "average Notts resident."

The e-scooter operator, however, said they "do not condone this behaviour". Superpedestrian, which took over from WIND, added they are working to identify the user and close his account as a result.

A spokesperson for Superpedestrian added: "We are working to identify the rider in the video to close their account. We take street safety extremely seriously, both for riders and other community members, and we do not condone this behaviour. This rider is not representative of Nottingham, where we’ve found the vast majority of riders use our scooters to safely get around the city."

In response to safety concerns from the public, dedicated parking racks for e-scooters have been rolled out across Nottingham following calls for the scrapping of the scheme. The new racks have been placed in 10 different areas of the city, including Nottingham Railway Station, to make pavements safer.
