McDonald's has announced the official opening date for its new restaurant in Swansea. Those who use Fforestfach Retail Park will have noticed construction taking place in an area of Tesco car park, which has been cordoned off by fences, with diggers and JCBs at work since March earlier this year.
Now following "significant investment" from local franchisee Pippa Mounsey the restaurant will open on June 21 for dine-in, takeaway, drive-thru, delivery services, and click and serve with opening hours from 7am until 11pm seven days a week.
The new restaurant will create around 150 new full- and part-time jobs and will feature table service, self-ordering kiosks, a large outside patio area including a play place, and a drive-thru with smart digital drive-thru menu boards. Get Swansea stories straight to your inbox with our newsletter.

Ms Mounsey, who now owns and operates two McDonald’s restaurants in Swansea, said: “We are delighted to be opening another brand-new McDonald’s restaurant in Parc Fforestfach, Swansea, and can’t wait to see local customers, both new and old, enjoy our services on offer.
"People are at the heart of our business and we look forward to welcoming new employees with the jobs our restaurant will create. We’re committed to investing in opportunities for a mix of all ages, life stages, and backgrounds promoting flexibility and equality.”
McDonald's says the new restaurant will be an ambitious 'convenience of the future' design with a remodelled customer collection counter aiming to lead to shorter queues. There will also be a dedicated courier waiting area and entrance and a new kitchen design along with an improved car park layouts.
