Open-world pirate survival game with over 1.5 million Steam wishlists, Windrose, finally has a release date, and it's sailing into early access next week

The high seas will be getting sailed quite soon indeed, as pirate-themed survival Windrose finally has a release date. The announcement arrived as part of the Triple-i conference, and the full project will be playable mere days from now.

Windrose will enter early access on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove on April 14 - yes, that's less than a week from the time of writing. There'll be three biomes within the co-op adventure to start, offering plenty of quests to complete and enemies to defeat and areas to explore.

"Create the perfect pirate playstyle and progress your character with skillpoints, talents and armor sets," states the press release. "Experience seamless land-to-ship gameplay with a focus on exploration, base building and combat."

The press release confirms that co-op battles on open water between vessels will be included, and there'll be three whole new ships to test out while you play out your Master and Commander fantasies. But besides the actual sailing, there are a plethora of weapons and tols to make use of as you stand against Blackbeard and aim to be the greatest swashbuckler who ever lived.

The combat is described as "soulslite," and you'll need all your wits to explore the map and plunder every scrap of gold and treasure you can find. Although you can take it on solo, from the sounds of things, the PvE aspects will at least be a tad easier to tackle if you have a fellow pirate by your side. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, as they say.

"It would just be Palworld 2": Pocketpair lead says adding a best-in-class feature from the viral pirate game it's publishing would be near impossible
