Residents of Fayette and Jessamine counties are encouraged to offer input on the region’s 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The first of a series of open houses was held Monday at the new Marksbury Family Branch Library in Lexington. Chris Evilia is the director of the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
“We're here to provide local input into how our transportation system looks, operates now and into the 25 years into the future. And so, more importantly, the reason why we exist is to decide how federal highway and public transportation dollars are to be used.”
Evilia said public input is not only encouraged, but critical to the plan.
“This is what guides our entire process. And this is the whole reason, is to find out from our community what is important to them, and what needs what do we need to be working on for the next 25 years.”
At stake is not just the transportation plan, but millions of federal dollars to help fund it.
