After roster cuts were made by the 32 teams across the league on Tuesday, waivers were processed at noon on Wednesday. Teams had the chance to claim any players that were waived and fortunately for the Los Angeles Rams, only one of their recently cut players was added by another team.
The New England Patriots claimed offensive lineman Zachary Thomas off waivers from the Rams, adding him to their 53-man roster. As a result, the Rams can’t sign him back to the practice squad as they were probably hoping to do.
Thomas helped fill in at guard this summer when Jonah Jackson was injured but he’ll be looking for a new opportunity with the Patriots on the East Coast.
The Rams can now begin signing any other players who cleared waivers to their practice squad, which has 16 available spots – or 17 if one is an international player.
