Police have reassured pupils that an ongoing incident near an Ayrshire secondary school does not involve the school itself or any pupils.
Ayrshire Live understands a helicopter has been circling the school and the surrounding area.
A huge police presence has also been spotted in the North Ayrshire town with a multitude of force vehicles racing past.
Ayrshire Live contacted police this morning regarding the incident but have yet to receive a response.
But a message posted on Ayrshire Police Division's Facebook page looked to allay fears.
The statement read: "Police would like to re-assure pupils that an ongoing incident near to Ardrossan Academy does not involve the school or any pupils attending."
