One word to remove from your dating app profile right now, according to expert

A dating expert has revealed the common word that singletons should remove from their online profiles right now. Millions of people use mobile apps and websites to find their perfect match, although it can be hard to decide on the right phrases and photos to use.

Now one expert has identified a word that many people use thinking it portrays them in a good light - but that actually does the opposite. Jennifer Kelman, dating guru at expert-on-demand service JustAnswer said: “I will always advocate for honesty and integrity in a profile.

“But the word ‘sociable’ could innocently be interpreted as a big drinker or a person who isn't ready for something serious and loves to meet and be with many people. Potential matches don’t want to think you’ll be a game player, unfaithful or too busy to spend any time with them, so this could be deemed as a red flag.

“Describe your heart and your love for things, be open and genuine but don't give it all away in the profile. Allow for the connection on the date to develop as you get to know one another.”

With an estimated 75million users across the world, including five million in the UK, Tinder is the most popular dating app on the market. Users are presented with profiles from other singletons and swipe right if they are interested. If both users indicate they are keen then a match occurs.

But to find a common admiration, users must create a profile to give potential dates an idea of who they are. This includes a description of themselves, such as hobbies and interests, as well as a range of photographs.

And finding the best portrayal to interest a future soulmate is often the part most people struggle with the most. Jennifer insists that while it is common to try to put your best foot forward on your profile, you should always be transparent and avoid tired cliches.

She explained: “I am always a fan of being genuine and honest with your feelings and not a fan of game playing through text or social media. The long walks on the beach statement is old and tiresome, as how many people truly take long walks on the beach regularly?

“Pictures with dogs are always a cute way to show warmth and love but people who don't share a love of dogs may scroll on by. However, that may be a good thing after all, as it weeds out those where the fit would be off.”
