A one-vehicle crash in which a car is believed to have rolled over as many as 10 times has caused severe delays on the M8.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on the motorway towards Livingston at around 1.10pm on Sunday, May 22.
One witness reported seeing the car skid onto the central reservation of the M8 and roll over 10 times while travelling on the bus.
Another said they saw multiple police cars, incident response vehicles, three ambulances and three fire appliances at the location.
Scottish Borders Police shared on social media at 1.22pm that the part of the motorway was closed to traffic in both directions.
Following the collision, they tweeted: "M8 is currently closed at Junction 2 and Junction 3, east and westbound due to a crash.
"Motorists are asked to seek alternatives routes." It's understood that the road closure has caused significant tailbacks and delays.
It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries as a result of the crash.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance at M8 at Junction 2 and Junction 3 after a crash involving one vehicle.
"East and westbound carriageways are currently closed.”
"We received a call at 1.10pm but there are no further details at this time."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have been contacted for comment.
