One to Watch: Luvcat, the UK’s murderous answer to Sabrina Carpenter

“It was obvious from a very young age that I loved to entertain,” says Sophie Morgan Howarth, aka Luvcat, the Liverpool-born dark-pop star who’s coming off the back of a huge 2025 into what looks like an even bigger 2026. With her pin-up blonde curls and leopard print dresses, Howarth looks — on the surface — like the UK’s answer to Sabrina Carpenter. Another natural performer, Luvcat opened for the American star’s British Summer Time show last July.

Luvcat’s music traces the sharp edge of love affairs, from He’s My Man, where she confesses to adoring her partner so much that she deliberately makes him sick, to Lipstick, a jealousy anthem where she threatens to kill her competitors by strangling them with their own plaits. In the world of Luvcat, love is everywhere, theatricality is everything, and Howarth sells every immersive second with her killer voice and performing panache.
