Every time Asha Banks goes on stage to perform, she brings a bonsai tree with her. “I bring the same one on every show, and my notepad,” she says. “I definitely have some superstitions. It’s also like, I think it’s passed the point of superstition and I’m just like, ‘I do this now.’” She pauses. “But You’ll never catch me walking over three drains.”
The superstitions appear to be paying dividends: the 22-year-old’s career is taking off. We are chatting in the Eurostar Terminal, where she seems chipper and chirpy after the listening parties she’s been hosting for her music around Europe.
