The first trailer for One Piece: Into the Grand Line, the second season of Netflix's live action adaptation of the beloved manga/anime, has arrived. Along with catching us up with Monkey D. Luffy, we're treated to glimpses of the violently effective Baroque Works assassin squad - including key character Nico Robin, played by Lera Abova.
Here's the trailer:
Nico Robin has the power of the Flower-Flower Fruit, giving her the bizarrely terrifying ability to clone her own limbs on any surface, even her opponents. In the trailer, she shows off this power by sprouting extra limbs on a room full of armed guards which then take down their own hosts.
In the original One Piece manga and its anime adaptation as well as, it would appear, the live-action show, Nico Robin is initially introduced as Miss All Sunday of the Baroque Works assassin group. As the trailer showcases, it would appear they are the villains of the season. Though she starts out as an antagonist – spoiler alert! – she eventually comes to join Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew as an archaeologist to aid Luffy in his quest to the find the One Piece.
The first season of Netflix's One Piece took fans of the venerable manga/anime by storm by leaning into the quirkiness of the classic story and its characters while also taking care to adapt it into a compelling narrative that also maintains the compelling heart of the One Piece saga.
One Piece season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on March 10. In the meantime, you can get ready with our guide to how to watch all of One Piece in order.
