One of the 'world's fattest women' now looks unrecognisable after shedding 35 stone. Christina Phillips says walking to her room used leave her out of breath before she underwent life-changing surgery.
She was 22 when she had gastric bypass surgery after her weight ballooned to a staggering 50 stone. Christina first rose to notoriety when appearing on the TV series "My 600-lb Life" back in 2012.
At the time, she told producers: "I'm trapped inside this body that I don't want to be in." The morbidly obese woman was also physically trapped inside as due to her size she hadn't left her home in two years, reports the Mirror.
She claimed her unhealthy eating habits were down to her mum and dad who would let her gorge on fast-food. Christina was so desperate to lose the weight she contacted Dr. Younan Nowzaradan for help.
However, he warned her that the operation wouldn't go ahead unless she lost some weight. This led to Christina finding the motivation to have a better diet which, combined with the surgery and exercise, saw her lose a remarkable amount.
She is now 13 stone and regularly posts pictures of her new look on social media to try and give inspiration to others. However, despite her efforts to spread a positive message online, Christina says she still struggles mentally.
She now attends therapy after fearing about putting the weight back on post-surgery. Christina said: "Lately any time I see the scale go up, I tend to freak out and I stop eating for a couple days.
"And I don't know how to change how I feel." However, despite this, she claims to be happier than ever as she's able to walk without getting out of breath
Christina added: "I'm able to do so much more now. It's pretty great.
"Before I couldn't walk eight feet without feeling like I was gonna die. Now, I could do just about anything I put my mind to."
Christina is also about to become a mum for the second time as she revealed on Facebook : "My 2nd baby boy will be here in September."
