One of Nottingham's most popular hotels goes on market for £2m

More details have been revealed about the sale of one of Nottingham's top hotels, which was a favourite with visiting celebrities. Roger Moore, Bob Hoskins, Callum Best, Michelle Collins and Ray Quinn have all been guests and panto stars including Christopher Biggins and Lesley Joseph stayed in the hotel's apartments during their panto stints at the Theatre Royal.

The Walton Hotel, on the edge of the historic Park Estate in North Road, is believed to have closed down during the first lockdown and earlier this year a letting sign went up describing it as a "prime hotel and development opportunity". Now the hotel has been listed on Rightmove, with a guide price of £2m.

The Grade II-listed building was originally built as a 19th-century hunting lodge and has 16 bedrooms plus a restaurant, bar and terrace. The listing says: "Internally, the property retains many of its original fine features including an impressive stone cantilever staircase with cast-iron balustrade, and is configured to provide a series of inter-communicating grand entertaining rooms opening out on to a large elevated terrace, retaining the original shutters, marble chimney pieces, high plaster ceiling borders and cornices."
