One Nation candidate facing death threats

A One Nation candidate is facing death threats, a Melbourne court has heard. (AAP)

A One Nation candidate is facing death threats as he contests two intervention order applications lodged against him, a court has heard.

Walter Stragan, 57, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday morning in relation to one of the intervention order applications.

The court heard there were already interim orders in place prohibiting Stragan from stalking two sisters.

The One Nation candidate for the seat of Melbourne has not been charged with an offence.

Stragan's lawyer Glenys Jardine told the court her client had received a death threat and negative social media attention following media reporting of the intervention order applications.

Ms Jardine said her client would be disputing the allegations which form the basis of the applications "all the way".

The case was adjourned to May 17.
