One man rushed to hospital following serious crash in Hyde

A man was taken to hospital after a serious crash involving three cars in Hyde. Emergency services were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Hattersley Road West and Mottram Road at around 6pm this evening (July 11).

A portion of Mottram Road was closed in both directions by police with pictures from the scene showing GMFRS, GMP and NWAS in attendance. GMFRS say one fire engine from Hyde station rushed to the scene and firefighters spent around one hour making the scene safe.

Motorists were advised to use different routes and public transport was diverted as a result of the crash with the Stagecoach service 201 travelling on the M67 instead.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “At approximately 6pm on Monday, 11 th July, firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Hattersley Road West and Mottram Road, in Hyde.

“One fire engine from Hyde station quickly attended the scene. The collision involved three vehicles.

"A man has been conveyed to hospital in an ambulance by colleagues from NWAS. Firefighters worked to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around one hour.”

Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan tweeted: "Route 201. Due to an RTC on the junction of Mottram Rd/Hattersley Rd West the 201 will not be able to serve Mottram Rd between Hattersley and Hyde. We will be using the M67 in both directions until further notice until the road is accessible again."

A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.55pm on Monday 11 July to a report of a collision between two vehicles at the junction of Mottram Road and Hattersley Road West. Both drivers remained at the scene; one of them – a man - was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
