The invested just €0.50 in a BoyleSports shop in the county and snapped up mega odds of 33,000/1 against all four landing.
They needed all four numbers, 7, 8, 26 and 27, to roll out of the machine to win the bet.
But that’s exactly what happened as the draw unfolded, meaning the lucky customer was able to return to the shop the next day and walk off with a stunning loot totalling €16,500.50.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It was a bit of a damaging night for us on Friday, but hats off to our County Meath customer who proved the big wins don’t necessarily require big stakes. Fair play to them for dreaming big and we hope their winnings go down a treat.”
