One Killed, Four Injured In Fort Lauderdale Drive-By Shooting

Fort Lauderdale police

Law enforcement officials in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reported a tragic incident on Friday evening, where one person was killed and four others were injured in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department responded to the shooting just after 7 p.m., finding five men with gunshot wounds at the scene.

All the victims were rushed to Broward Health Medical Center with severe injuries. Tragically, one victim succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Another victim remains in critical condition, while the other three victims are in stable condition and are expected to recover, according to police officials.

Authorities believe that the shooting was carried out in a drive-by fashion, but details about the motive behind the attack or the identity of the suspects remain undisclosed. It is also unclear how many individuals were involved in the shooting incident.

Law enforcement officials have reached out to the public for any information that could aid in the ongoing investigation. Detective Ali Adamson urged anyone with details about the suspect(s) or the suspect vehicle to contact the Fort Lauderdale Police Department promptly.

This unfortunate event in Florida adds to the growing number of mass shootings in the United States this year. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been over 215 mass shootings in the country so far in 2021. The archive defines a mass shooting as an incident where at least four individuals, excluding the shooter, are shot.
