One half of Abbey Vale’s title winning management duo has stood down.
Frazer Brolls and Allan Clark steered the Maryfield Park side to their first ever Utility Hut South of Scotland League title this season.
However, the former has stood down after 20 years at the club, nine as co-manager, due to family commitments.
Brolls, whose dad Andy is club chairman, said: “I’m unable to commit to the manager’s position in a way that would be fair to the club and players.
“It’s been said before but there’s no such thing as a part-time football manager, if you want to do it properly it’s full on.
“Over the last nine years I’m very proud of what myself and Allan have achieved – taking the club from the bottom of the league to our ultimate goal of South of Scotland champions.
“We’ve had a lot of ups and downs along the way and had to build a few different teams over the years but I wouldn’t change a thing.
“I’ve known for a while it’s been coming and wanted to leave the club in the best possible position. With Allan and the rest of the coaches still in place the club is in great hands.
“Last season, bringing in Darren Kerr and Steven Harkness, along with myself, Allan and Michael Love it’s been a real team effort and I can’t thank them enough.
“Along with that, the squad is already looking strong again for next season and I’ve no doubt they will be challenging for trophies again.
“I would like to thank all the players, committee, coaches and anyone else from the club who has helped me personally over the years, along with other managers who helped us and gave us advice as young managers starting out.
“I will continue to help the club and the committee off the park as much as I can from a distance.
“Not many people can say they played for, captained and managed the club they grew up supporting as a young boy, but I’m glad to say I’m one of them.”
A club statement said: “All at the club would like to thank Frazer for his hard work, commitment and dedication he has put in over the last nine years as part of the management team.
“Frazer and Allan have put teams together over the years, continually developing and improving the team, to finally reach their goal of becoming South of Scotland League champions.
“Allan and the coaching staff have already started preparations for next season, with majority of last season’s squad re-signing for next season.
“A welcome few weeks off for the boys before pre-season starts again.”
