One accused held

New Delhi : Delhi police said they have arrested one of the accused in the case of the death of a police constable on September 29 in the National Capital's Nangloi area.

The accused has been identified as Rajnish, and police said efforts are on to arrest the second accused. Tis Hazari Court in Delhi grante three-day custody remand of accused to the Police.

Police arrested one

"Police arrested one of the accused, Rajnish, in the case. The offending vehicle has been seized.

 Multiple teams have been formed for investigation, and several raids have been conducted in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, as per Delhi police.

"Sustained efforts are being made for the arrest of the second accused," police added.

Meanwhile, in the Delhi High Court, a habeas corpus petition was mentioned by a counsel concerning an alleged road rage incident in which a Delhi Police constable lost his life.

 The counsel informed

 The counsel informed the court that the wife of the accused has been picked up by the Delhi Police and is currently in their custody.

The advocate further stated that the accused fled the scene, and instead, a family member (the wife) was detained.

The bench led by Chief Justice Manmohan, also comprising Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, taking note of the matter, has scheduled it for a hearing on October 1, where the legality of the wife's alleged detention will be examined.

The advocate, through Habeas Corpus plea, seeks release of illegal detention of accused wife.

In the tragic road rage incident in the Nangloi area two days ago, a Delhi Police constable, identified as 30-year-old Sandeep, was killed after being dragged for about 10 meters by a speeding car.

The incident occurred

The incident occurred when constable Sandeep, noticing the driver's reckless behavior, requested the driver to slow down.

However, instead of complying, the driver suddenly accelerated, striking Sandeep's motorcycle from behind. Sandeep and his bike were dragged along the road before colliding with another vehicle.

The car involved

The car involved in the incident has since been seized, but the driver remains absconding. CCTV footage from the area captured the moments leading up to the incident, aiding the ongoing police investigation.

The incident has led to a serious investigation, with the accused reportedly fleeing the scene after the crime.(with Agency inputs)
