Once ‘power surplus’ at 23k MW, Madhya Pradesh now fails to supply even 12k MW

BHOPAL: A little early arrival of summer has laid bare the self-appraisal claims of 24 by 7 power supply in Madhya Pradesh. Round-the-clock power supply was the top priority of the chief minister since his early days and thousands of crores of rupees have been spent to achieve it.

However, the state which once boasted of having surplus power with availability above 23,000 MW, is now facing frequent and unscheduled blackouts when demand is not more than 12,000 MW.
