Eight years ago today, on May 8th, 2015, Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose delivered an iconic moment in a playoff matchup against LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers.
With the series tied 1-1 in the 2015 Eastern Conference Semifinals and the game tied at 96-96, Rose collected an inbounds pass from the sideline, rolled to his right across the court and launched a shot over 6-foot-9 forward Tristan Thompson. Rose buried the 3-pointer, sending the United Center into a frenzy.
The Cavs bounced back to win three straight games to take the series, and eventually went on to lose in the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.
