Team GB ended the Paris Olympics lying a relatively lowly seventh in the overall medals table, with 65, a noticeable drop in the standings, having been third, second and fourth in London, Rio and Tokyo respectively.
That haul eclipsed Tokyo, matched London and was just two down on Rio de Janeiro, but with far less of a golden hue than all three, with just 14 in all, comfortably less that those preceding trio of Olympics.
