Olympic star Helen Smart dies ‘suddenly’ after achieving headteacher dream

Tributes have been paid to former Olympic swimmer Helen Smart who passed away “suddenly” at the age of 43.

The Team GB star swam backstroke at the Sydney Olympics 2000 before retiring and becoming a “brilliant” headteacher at Worsley Mesnes Community Primary School in Wigan.
