Ollie Robinson has avoided any injury and will be available for the Ashes despite being stood down in Sussex's County Championship game against Glamorgan on Saturday due to an ankle problem.
The 29-year-old bowled eight overs in the morning session, before sitting out of the rest of the day, having appeared to roll his ankle. He sparked fears of another of England's frontline bowlers potentially being out of the first test vs Austrailia on June 16 at Edgbaston.
However, Robinson has since posted a message to fans confirming his participation in the series won't be under threat. In a post on Instagram, Robinson said: "Good start to the season with @sussexccc, now onto the international summer."
ECB have since confirmed in a statement: "Sussex and England seamer Ollie Robinson had a scan on Monday to determine the extent of some discomfort in his left ankle after playing for Sussex in the LV= Insurance County Championship Division Two match against Glamorgan at Hove last week.
"Scan results have revealed no damage to the ankle and that Robinson will join up with the England Men’s Test squad this weekend ahead of the LV= Insurance Test match against Ireland starting on Thursday 1 June at Lord’s."
Sussex coach Paul Farbrace confirmed that Robinson would be scanned on Monday: "He's got a sore ankle and he'll be scanned on Monday to see how bad he is. We knew it was sore yesterday, that's why we got one spell out of him this morning.
"We've got a good relationship with the England players that Sussex have had here, and the medical department here are very closely linked. It's the right thing to do. We need to find out from everyone's point of view, but obviously from Ollie's point of view, he wants to know what's going on with the ankle and why it's so sore."
Robinson is not the only England bowler struggling for fitness, with James Anderson also currently nursing a groin strain. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer has been ruled out for a second successive summer with an elbow problem and Olly Stone has a hamstring problem.
