Olivia Wilde has defended Harry Styles after the star was accused of spitting on Chris Pine at the Don't Worry Darling premiere.
The stars were at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month when rumours erupted on social media after footage appeared to show the singer-turned-actor spit on his co-star. Fans quickly shared the clip, making it go viral.
However, Olivia, a fellow co-star and the director of the movie, has insisted this simply didn't happen - and she should know as she was sat right next to the pair.
Speaking to Stephen Colbert on The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert, the 38-year-old addressed the spit-gate controversy. She told the host: "He did not. I think it's a perfect example that people will look for drama anywhere they can," before adding "Harry did not spit on Chris, in fact."
Stephen didn't seem to buy the answer and joked: "Only time will tell," prompting a giggling Olivia to reply: "He really didn't."
Her denial follows Chris' reps also saying it simply wasn't correct. Days after the alleged incident, they called rumours a "complete fabrication".
"This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation," they said in a statement for Variety. "Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine.
"There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."
And while the Watermelon Sugar singer, 28, didn't specifically deny the situation, he did make light of the allegations as he returned to the stage at Madison Square Garden after the festival.
He joked to his adoring crowd: "It's wonderful to be back in New York. I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine."
His comment was met with screams of adulation from his adoring crowd before he added with a smile: "But we're back!"
The movie has been embroiled in a number of other dramas too in the build-up to its release. Elsewhere, Olivia had to address Shia LaBeouf's denial he was fired from her movie.
She also was forced to acknowledge the speculation she and the film's leading actress Florence Pugh are currently engaged in a bitter feud. She claimed to be unbothered by the 26-year-old's distinct lack of social media promotion for their upcoming film.
