Olivia Rodrigo's GUTS World Tour is currently underway in North America, but recent reports have brought some controversy to light. It has been revealed that abortion funds have been instructed to cease distributing contraceptives at Olivia's shows, allegedly at the behest of her own team.
According to sources cited by Variety, local abortion funds were informed on Thursday afternoon that they were no longer permitted to provide contraceptives at the concerts. This directive reportedly originated from Olivia's team and was communicated through the National Network of Abortion Funds, which has been present at the tour stops.
Jade Hurley, the communications manager for the DC Abortion Fund, expressed that the decision to halt the distribution of contraceptives was justified by the presence of children at the concerts. However, she emphasized the importance of youth having access to birth control and emergency contraception, highlighting that these services are legal across all 50 states.
Despite the restrictions, abortion funds are continuing to organize and distribute informational materials at Olivia's shows. BuzzFeed has reached out to Olivia's team for additional comments, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
