Olivia Attwood slams 'misogynistic' comments around 'scary' ITV I'm A Celebrity exit

Olivia Attwood has hit back at 'misogynistic' comments that surrounded her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here exit as she spoke out for the first time. The reason for the former Love Island star's sudden exit from the jungle was revealed on Sunday (November 13), almost a week after it was revealed she had been forced to withdraw from the ITV reality show.

Olivia was among the initial 10 stars lined-up to take part in the ITV reality show when it kicked off last Sunday (November 6). Viewers saw her be selected as the first 'Jungle VIP' following a public vote and hosts Ant and Dec told her she was allowed to choose one person to join her for a meal, as she picked Chris.

Later, she and the radio DJ took part in a skydive before Olivia was seen alongside Chris, fellow Jungle VIP Boy George and Scarlette Douglas taking part in the first trial of the series before uniting with the rest of the line-up in the main camp. But after just 24 hours it was announced that Olivia had to leave the camp.

Olivia, 31, has now disclosed how a concerning blood result was the reason for her departure in an interview with Mail On Sunday. She said: "I was so scared, I was like: ‘What the hell is wrong with me?’ They couldn’t give me an answer, they just told me that they had to get me to the hospital immediately.

"The results were really, really low when they put them into their reader and they consulted with another doctor off-site. I had those bloods done in England before I left, and they were fine. I was confused and of course very, very worried." However, according to Olivia, the blood tests in the hospital returned fine.

But she said ITV was not "willing to authorise my return and therefore I wasn’t insured" before adding she was "absolutely devastated." She added: "They said because of the results the show’s medical team got from my readings, they were not happy to sign me off to come back in, even though I had the clean bill of health from the hospital. If I went back into camp, they feared my levels might drop and it could be detrimental to my health and wellbeing."

Olivia has, however, responded to speculation from viewers who thought her exit may have been because she was pregnant. While that thought did cross her own mind amid the panic of being taken out of camp and rushed to the hospital, she has since slammed the suggestion.

"I mean, I saw on Twitter that I was pregnant. I'm not. There is an underlying misogynistic feel to the rhetoric," she explained. "They're saying, 'I bet she fainted' or 'I bet she was scared of sleeping outside' or that 'she didn't fancy it because it was raining'. The reason it was so frustrating is because I am the complete opposite of that – and to make it more irritating, people could see on the show that I was absolutely loving it.

"There was nothing I would have said no to in the jungle. I loved it from the first hour and I was embracing every moment of it. I'm a nature geek, so I loved seeing all the bugs, and I even saw a kangaroo."
