Oliver Skipp faces key Tottenham decision that could have major impact on Ange Postecoglou plan

It could be a very successful summer for Oliver Skipp as England Under-21s chase European Championship glory in Romania and Georgia. Topping Group C with three wins from three games, the Three Lions are now in the semi-finals of the competition and have the opportunity on Wednesday evening to make Saturday's showpiece finale.

Israel stand in their way of a place in the final but Lee Carsley's men did beat their semi-final opponents 2-0 when they met in the group stage. Skipp has featured in all four of their games so far, starting just the once in their final group encounter against Germany one week ago.

Once the tournament has come to a close, the Tottenham midfielder will be allowed some time off before returning to club duty and working under new boss Ange Postecoglou for the very first time. As Tottenham are due to depart for Australia on Friday, July 14 for the first leg of their pre-season tour, it remains to be seen when exactly Skipp will return and which games he will be involved in this summer.

The England Under-21 international may well choose to cut his break short in order to make a quicker impression on Postecoglou as he looks to become a regular under the Australian. Speaking to the media following England's win over Portugal on Sunday, the 22-year-old was asked about the prospect of linking up with Tottenham earlier than expected.

"I think there's definitely an opportunity for me," he said, as reported by BBC. "If we do go all the way, it will only be a month before the new Premier League season.

"I'll have to see what the club's plan for me is. They have let me focus on the tournament first and then we'll probably get into contact and we'll see. It's exciting to have a new manager."

Set to play a new style of football under Postecoglou with the 57-year-old playing attacking football that is very easy on the eye, Skipp cannot wait to get to work for his new boss.

"I am really excited to get back to club football when I do get back," he added. "Sometimes, it's good to just get into it and not have so long of a build-up. I will definitely be trying to get my game into what the manager wants from me."
