Manchester United Women prospect Karna Solskjaer will depart the club this summer.
Solskjaer, the daughter of United legend and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been impressive in United's youth ranks this season and looked to be on the verge of a breakthrough into Mark Skinner's senior side. However, instead, the 19-year-old will return to her native Norway after agreeing to join AaFK Fortuna.
Solskjaer was a key member of the United Women's Under-21 side that clinched a domestic double this season by winning the WSL Academy League title as well as the WSL Academy Cup, starting for Charlotte Healy's side in the 4-1 final triumph over Birmingham City in March.
Despite being sacked as United manager in November, Solskjaer's father was often spotted in attendance to watch her in action. Just like her dad, Solskjaer is a striker and netted 15 goals throughout the campaign.
Her good form was recognised by Skinner and Solskjaer was handed her first-team debut in a Women's FA Cup tie in January against Bridgwater United. However, that would be the extent of her involvement in the senior side and she did not feature in the Women's Super League.
Now Solskjaer has opted to continue her career back in her homeland after a deal with the third tier Norwegian women's club, which is based in the coastal town of Alesund, was announced on Tuesday.
The WSL came to an end this past weekend with United finishing in fourth place as Chelsea clinched a third title in succession ahead of Arsenal.
