‘Oldest’ Horizon victim made OBE says she will wear it in honour of victims

Betty Brown has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honours list for services to justice (Lucy North/PA) -

A woman thought to be the oldest victim of the Post Office Horizon IT scandal has said she accepted recognition in the New Year Honours list on behalf of the subpostmasters whose lives were shattered.

Betty Brown, 92, from County Durham, ran the Annfield Plain Post Office near Stanley with her late husband Oswall from 1985 to 2003, and she estimates they lost around £100,000 of their own money to cover the non-existent shortfalls.
