Old Firm giants Celtic in the hunt for talented Glentoran teenager Francis Turley

Old Firm giants Celtic are being linked with a move for promising Glentoran youngster Francis Turley.

Several other cross-channel clubs are also monitoring the midfielder who represented Northern Ireland in last season’s Victory Shield.

But it is understood the Hoops are in pole position for the teenager who has impressed during his time at the Irish FA’s JD Academy.

The Belfast native, a technically gifted player with an eye for a pass, was part of a Northern Ireland U16/17 development squad that took part in a recent four-team tournament in Albania.

He also started all three of Northern Ireland’s Victory Shield games with Scotland (1-0), Wales (0-2) and the Republic of Ireland (0-2) in October.

Turley’s Victory Shield teammates included Linfield's Cormac Austin who has since been snapped up by Crystal Palace and Glentoran goalkeeper Mason Munn who joined Rangers last month.

And it now looks as if the Glens teenager could be the next talent to make a high-profile move to a cross channel club.
