Oklahoma woman finds missing dog 1,100 miles away in North Carolina after nearly two weeks, and no one knows how he got there

An Oklahoma woman has been reunited with her missing dog after he was found about 1,100 miles away in North Carolina, leaving his owner and local animal services with a mystery over how he travelled so far. Melissa Burris, who lives near Tulsa in northeastern Oklahoma, said her 10-year-old Australian shepherd, Rio, disappeared from home on July 30 and did not return. She searched for him and posted about his disappearance in local groups, refusing to give up hope of finding him. Nearly two weeks later, Burris received an unexpected call from Guilford County Animal Services in Greensboro, North Carolina. A Good Samaritan had found Rio and taken him to the shelter, where staff scanned his microchip and traced him back to his owner.
